Welcome back to Blackboard News You Can Use, your brief monthly newsletter to help you promote student success through MATC’s web-based learning environment, Blackboard Learn. In this edition, we share helpful resources and reminders to help you get prepared for the spring semester.
Finding Your Spring 2020 Courses
Once you are assigned sections in INFOnline, they are pushed to Blackboard through an automated process. All of your assigned sections will appear on Blackboard’s Courses page. Review our guide to Searching and Editing the Course List for helpful tips for navigating and customizing your course list.
Course Preparation Best Practices
Per college leadership, all faculty are required to post a syllabus to each of their courses on Blackboard and to make their courses are available to students. To prepare courses in Blackboard, review the tasks and tutorials in our Beginning of the Semester Checklist. Faculty teaching face-to-face courses are strongly encouraged to support student success by using Blackboard’s communication, content sharing, and grade feedback tools. Instructors who teach online classes at MATC are expected to adhere to the following best practices guidelines for delivering effective instruction that supports student success. If you have questions about using Blackboard, contact your campus Faculty Support Liaison for a personal consultation.
Support Resources for Students
As faculty, you have access to instructional technology resources to support your teaching. Did you know that students have access to support resources as well? Review the Student Support Resources and share them with your students. For example, you can add links to the directions to submit an assignment, use the discussion board, online test-taking, and accessing
academic support resources and more to your courses. Students with questions about online learning may contact email@example.com.

Friendly Reminder About Printing Services
Did you know that you can send your classroom handouts e.g., syllabi to Print Services? Print requests from instructors can be sent to print services through interoffice mail, dropped off in person Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., placed in the dropbox after hours or sent via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Print Services is located at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus in Room M141 and provides print services for the Mequon, Oak Creek, West Allis, and Downtown Campuses. FIC Equipment Checkout
Did you know that you can check out a laptop or iPad for instructional use for a period of 14 days? For questions, send an email to email@example.com. To request equipment, complete the FIC Equipment Checkout Request Form. The FIC is located at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus in Room M201.
