Welcome back to Blackboard News You Can Use, your brief monthly newsletter to help you promote student success through MATC’s web-based learning environment, Blackboard Learn. In this edition, we share a few updates and reminders.
Blackboard Update Coming March 14th
On Thursday, March 14th starting at 5:00 PM (CST), Blackboard will undergo a routine maintenance update to correct a few known issues; no changes in tools or features are expected. We will be using the same major version of Blackboard as we do now, updating from Blackboard 9.1 version 3500.0.3 to 3500.0.4. The update process will take about 24 hours to complete with no expected downtime. Details are available here.
Because Microsoft no longer updates Internet Explorer, we strongly recommend that faculty and students to use a supported browser for security and best performance. As time goes on, Internet Explorer will become harder to use.
All faculty are required to post a syllabus to each course in Blackboard and make their courses available to students. See the First-Time Guide to Adding Your Syllabus to Blackboard to make sure this task is complete. Syllabi templates are available here.
Career Essentials Reminder
Faculty should set up a Career Essentials Assessment in their courses with a rubric and goal alignment. See the following resources to learn how to set up the assessment and score student performance. If you have questions about this process in Blackboard, contact your campus Faculty Support Liaison for consultation.
Upcoming Training Courses
Intermediate and Advanced Blackboard courses begin in March. See our schedule here for details.
