Welcome back to Blackboard News You Can Use, your brief monthly newsletter to help you promote student success through MATC’s web-based learning environment, Blackboard Learn. In this edition, we share a few resources and reminders to support your teaching practice.

Reminder – Final Grades Due May 27th

Final grades are due by 5:00 PM, Wednesday, May 27, 2020.  Faculty may submit final grades to INFOnline through Blackboard’s ILP tool. A video demonstration of using this tool is available.

MATC’s Department of Online Learning will be providing weekly webinars to review tools and best practices for online teaching. Check the complete schedule for details; we will offer more sessions and new topics as we move to the summer term. Upcoming sessions are listed in the table below.  Before you join a session, review the First-Time Guide to Using Collaborate to prepare your technology! Then, use the provided guest link to join the session on the appointed date; use your full name when joining a session so that we can support you.

NBC Learn to Be Discontinued

As of June 2020, the NBC Learn mashup will no longer be available for use. NBC will be permanently discontinuing this product.

New Technologies Coming Soon!

Bb Annotate

On May 25th, the inline assignment preview tool hosted by New Box View will be replaced with Blackboard’s new built-in tool, Bb Annotate. Bb Annotate provides improved tools for previewing and annotating files students have submitted. Features include support for a variety of comment types, customizable comment banks and stamps, and downloadable annotations. Annotations that were created with New Box View will be fully migrated over to Bb Annotate. TechSmith Relay

MATC will be purchasing a license to a TechSmith Relay integration with Blackboard to provide faculty a new resource for recording, curating, and adding closed-captions to instructional videos. Additional details discussing the tool’s availability and training will be released soon.
