Gamification in education refers to using elements of game-play, such as challenge quests, leaderboards, checklists, simulations, and contextual feedback, to engage and motivate students. Game-based learning can be designed to give students immersive low-stakes opportunities to practice knowledge or skill and can involve cooperation or competition. To learn more about gamification, see the following Blackboard Innovative Teaching Series webinar recording, presented by Blackboard Exemplary Course Program winner and a Blackboard MVP Dr. Szymon Machajewski. Resources, notes, and a transcript of the webinar are available at the Blackboard Community Site.
