Using YouTube to Host Videos and Provide Video Captions

Accessibility Lecture Capture & Closed Captioning Multimedia Technology

YouTube is a free video service that all faculty have access to through MATC Google Apps for Education. Videos that faculty have created themselves, where they retain copyright ownership, can be uploaded to one’s personal MATC YouTube account and shared with students through links in Blackboard or other applications. In addition to preserving your course’s overall file-size, hosting videos through YouTube has several benefits that support learning: closed captions, transcripts, and mobile access.

To learn how to get started with YouTube hosting and closed captions, see this guide. Support for YouTube is available through the YouTube Help Center.
